Current Teaching Responsibilities

EDU 1020–Essentials College Study (ID)  Orientation to prepare students for college study. Greater knowledge & skills to assist in academic objectives. Nature of adult learner, planning, testing, communication, study, library use, issues. Service learning component likely  ***Is a face-to-face course using and Open Education Resource (OER).  The class is located in Canvas to give details of the syllabus along with detailed instructions for each assignment.  Due dates are given.

 

 

LE 1220–Human Relations Career Development (SS, HR)

 

Creative, traditional job search methods and human relation skills to find and keep gainful employment.

Topics include self assessment, goal setting, career review, job sources, written goals, appearance,

interviewing, and diversity. Course may be taught with a Service Learning component.

Offered as 100% online and hybrid.

 

Current Curriculm Development Projects

I am involved in two major initatives on campus.  I have been working with student service personnel to build on the creation of a course which was once only offered to a certain population of student.  (Student Leaders).  We will be presenting the new CCO and syllabus to our School's Curriculum Committee at the 1st of Novemeber.

SLSS: 2120  Personal Characteristics of Leadership

Seeking (HR) designation and part of a Leadership Certificate.

 

FirstYear Seminar-stackable credential coursework

Building bridges for students from college orientation to the deeper understanding of college success we are developing with the FYE office a similar course to the current EDU 1020.  Students will take a 1 credit hour college orientation course where they will spend time evaluation themselves and their history to establish a foundation for wanting to be successful at the college level.  The second part of the course will be 2 credit hours and will offer students strategies, resources, and materials to assist them in their goal.
